Boxlight ProColor Series 3 display supports OTA firmware updates. This functionality requires that the built-in Android OS on the display is connected to a live internet connection. OTA firmware updates are helpful in keeping the panel up to date with the latest apps versions and bug fixes available. By using the OTA method versus a manual method, file settings are retained.
When Boxlight releases an OTA update, the panel will automatically download the firmware when it restarts. It will not automatically install the firmware. After the restart and download, a pop up will appear on screen asking for a confirmation of the upgrade. Select Confirm and the upgrade process will begin which will take about 10 minutes. Select Cancel and the install pop-up message will appear after each restart of the panel until it is confirmed.
To check if the display has the latest firmware installed, check for the upgrade and manually start the download from the Settings application built into the panel. To do this:
- From the home screen tap Settings
- Tap System update
- Tap Check for update.
If an update is found, simply download and install or leave as is.
