Stafford Public Schools (Stafford Springs, CT) is a nationally recognized school district and consistently strives to drive learning so that, according to their mission statement, their students are prepared “to assume productive, meaningful, and responsible roles in an increasingly competitive global society.” Made up of five schools with approximately 1500 students enrolled, Stafford is a 1:1 district, and this past school year, implemented a hybrid learning model – students learning from home and in-class.
In line with their plan to provide teachers and students with innovative interactive tools that enhance instruction, Stafford has forged a relationship with Boxlight by using its Mimio Education solutions. Before incorporating a suite of Mimio Education products, Stafford classrooms were using a mix of SMART boards and RM units, which were not being used. The decision-making team wanted education technology solutions that would boost engagement and strengthen classroom collaboration.
The district invested in a Mimio Education products suite that included an interactive whiteboard, document camera, classroom software, and wireless tablet. The products are simple to set up and user-friendly, save teachers time when, and was cost-effective. Products included the MimioTeach™ portable interactive whiteboard, MimioStudio™ classroom software, MimioView™ document camera, and MimioPad™ wireless pen tablet.
With professional development designed by the Stafford team, teacher use of the Mimio Education products has increased. Lynn Erickson, Technology Integration Specialist at Stafford Public Schools, comments, “We have used (Mimio Education) products over the years in all classrooms with our math, science, and social studies programs. Staff is all trained using the same equipment. We developed several support mechanisms such as Mimio Experts in the district and had a train-the-trainer approach to support staff.”
