Steve Mefford

Steve got an early start in technology – as a young man he liked to dismantle and try to fix all things electronic, like tube televisions and cassette players. When he was a high-school senior, Steve decided to go into the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 5 years as an avionics electrician working on jets and helicopters. After the Marines, Steve attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

In 1996 he began working for TechKnowledgy Education Centers, selling Microsoft and Novell certified engineer training classes to both corporate clients and individuals. From there he moved to Callero Management Information Systems, where he developed sales strategies and tactics to successfully grow the business in the EDI bar coding and inventory control sector. When he began to lose interest in the tech field, he took a sales role with Tubular Steel, a national distributor of all types of steel tubing. During his first full year with the company, he was named Salesperson of the Year, and realized he had found his niche. He went on to hold sales positions with Tatung Science and Technology, a manufacturer of SPARC computer systems, and with Midwest Computer Products, a company that sold all sorts of AV equipment focused on the education market. This was where Steve first was introduced to Mimio. He understood the technology and was energized by what it could do and what it meant to educators in terms of both functionality and affordability.

In Mimio, Steve found his passion. He joined Mimio in August, 2006 and has never looked back. After working for Mimio in National Accounts and Partner Development and managing a regional sales team, he became the National Sales Manager for Mimio. No one who works with Steve ever questions his unrelenting passion for Mimio products and brand!

Headsprout Acquired by Cambium Learning

Skyview Capital LLC has completed the sale of Headsprout®, developers of the MimioReading™ classroom suite and MimioScience™ online instructional software business unit, to Cambium Learning® Group, Inc., a leading educational solutions and services company.  As you recall, Skyview Capital acquired the online curriculum programs as part of its acquisition of Mimio, in July 2013.

 

Cambium Learning, a highly respected organization within the education marketplace is comprised of four stellar business units: Voyager/Sopris Learning; Learning A–Z®; ExploreLearning®; Kurzweil Educational Systems® and IntelliTools®.   Together, these divisions provide best-in-class intervention and supplemental instructional materials; gold-standard professional development and school-improvement services; breakthrough technology solutions for online learning and professional support; valid and reliable assessments; and proven materials to support a positive and safe school environment.

 

We are excited about the opportunity for Headsprout to grow within Cambium Learning.  To learn more about the sale, please see the Press Release.  Since Skyview has divested in the Headsprout business, MimioScience and MimioReading are no longer products that are part of Mimio’s portfolio. MimioTeach $50 SPIFF: Spreadsheet Due Tomorrow

 

Don't forget the SPIFF Excel spreadsheet for our Gold, Silver and Bronze Reseller Partners is due tomorrow, December 31, 2013.  

Please submit one SPIFF Excel document per Reseller Partner Company by the end of tomorrow to insidesales@mimio.com.  You can review the terms and conditions below to ensure you properly submit the Excel spreadsheet.  Remember only one Excel spreadsheet should be submitted per Reseller Partner Company.

MimioStudio 11.1 is Here!

We’re very pleased to announce the release of MimioStudio 11.1 software on the website. This important software release adds enforcement of software licenses to MimioStudio.  With this update, there are several items your customers may have questions about when they update to MimioStudio 11.1 which we wanted to make you aware of:

  • We are no longer including license codes with hardware purchases.  Connecting the hardware to the computer will continue to activate MimioStudio software.
  • Due to the above, we have enabled additional features in the limited version (Gallery and Activity Wizard) to support content creation for Mimio Home users.
  • All NEW MimioMobile or MimioStudio license codes will only work with MimioStudio 11.1.  If the customer needs a license code for a previous version (prior to 11.1), they will need to contact customer support and we will fulfill that request.  It should be noted that all previously distributed license codes will continue to work with MimioStudio 11.1.
  • If the user does not either connect to the internet which automatically verifies User or Site licenses or connect a Mimio hardware device, then their MimioStudio software will revert back to the Limited version after a period of 15 days.

Don't forget the SPIFF Excel spreadsheet for our Gold, Silver and Bronze Reseller Partners is due December 31, 2013.  With this SPIFF, for every 10 or more MimioTeach™ interactive whiteboards per school sold, the Reseller Partner Rep and Company will each receive $50 USD per MimioTeach!

List of Mimio Certified Trainers for YOU!

In our last Partner Webinar, we explained some changes that were made to our training program.  We will be discussing some updates to the training program during our Partner Webinar next week, but didn’t want to wait until then to provide you with a list of Mimio Certified Trainers.  These trainers have agreed to be on this list and contacted by you if you would like to contract with them directly to set up trainings on Mimio products for your Mimio customers.  See below for some more information about this list of Certified Trainers:

  • Trainers were certified at some point since the start of the Mimio Certified Training Program.
  • Cost and logistics will be managed directly between you and the Certified Trainers.
  • Partners do not need to reach out to Mimio to make arrangements with the Certified Trainers.

Partner Summit for 2014
