      Steve Mefford

      Steve got an early start in technology – as a young man he liked to dismantle and try to fix all things electronic, like tube televisions and cassette players. When he was a high-school senior, Steve decided to go into the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 5 years as an avionics electrician working on jets and helicopters. After the Marines, Steve attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

      In 1996 he began working for TechKnowledgy Education Centers, selling Microsoft and Novell certified engineer training classes to both corporate clients and individuals. From there he moved to Callero Management Information Systems, where he developed sales strategies and tactics to successfully grow the business in the EDI bar coding and inventory control sector. When he began to lose interest in the tech field, he took a sales role with Tubular Steel, a national distributor of all types of steel tubing. During his first full year with the company, he was named Salesperson of the Year, and realized he had found his niche. He went on to hold sales positions with Tatung Science and Technology, a manufacturer of SPARC computer systems, and with Midwest Computer Products, a company that sold all sorts of AV equipment focused on the education market. This was where Steve first was introduced to Mimio. He understood the technology and was energized by what it could do and what it meant to educators in terms of both functionality and affordability.

      In Mimio, Steve found his passion. He joined Mimio in August, 2006 and has never looked back. After working for Mimio in National Accounts and Partner Development and managing a regional sales team, he became the National Sales Manager for Mimio. No one who works with Steve ever questions his unrelenting passion for Mimio products and brand!

      Partner Assessment

      After the release of MimioStudio 11 and MimioMobile 2, we wanted to provide you some time to use and understand the software updates before taking the updated Partner Assessment. With a few months under your belt using our latest software, we are now requiring all of our reseller partners’ sales reps to pass our updated 25-question assessment by May 31, 2014.  This assessment is to ensure you understand the Authorized Mimio Partner Program, know what’s available on Partner Resources and on the Mimio website, and have adequate understanding of all Mimio products and training programs. Sales reps may reference any of these resources while completing the assessment. Each Mimio Reseller Partner Sales Rep must score 80% or higher (answer 20 questions correctly) to pass.

      MimioTeach SPIFF Payout

      I know those of you who participated in the MimioTeach SPIFF that ended December 31, 2013 are eagerly awaiting your SPIFF.  The Reseller Partner Rep will be paid out and the partner account will be credited by the end of February. 

      Mimio Reseller Partner Reps who are receiving SPIFF payouts, we’ve decided that it makes more sense to send you a check for the full SPIFF amount you earned instead of the gift card you have received from SPIFF programs in the past.  Be on the lookout for your SPIFF check which will be sent to the address you provided us.  If you do not receive your check by the first week of March, please email partners@mimio.com.

      New Pricing Doc Available to YOU!

      Before the start of Q1 tradeshow season, we wanted to provide you with our up to date pricing sheet.  We will be providing this to you twice a year – January and June with what has been updated from the previous pricelist.  By referring to the date, you will know if you are looking at the latest price sheet. The only variation to this schedule is if we have a new product that comes out during another time of year and therefore Mimio will need to update the price sheet in addition to the releases in January and June. 

      With this said, you can reach out to your Territory Manager or distributor for the latest pricelist.  Please note, that there have been significant changes to this pricelist which include:

       

      Format

      o   We’ve updated the format based on some requests which include:

      •   Segmented by interactive display, accessory, bundles, software, spares and legacy products
      •   Added descriptions of each of the products
      •   Printable view for two pages

       

      Added

      o   MimioProjector LAN Card (in SPARES: MimioProjector) – only to be ordered with a new MimioProjector that supports this LAN Card insert

      o   MimioProjector Remote (in SPARES: MimioProjector)

      o   MimioBoard ME77 and ME87 are being discontinued so have been put in the Legacy MimioClassroom Products – While Supplies Last.  This is not due to the quality of these boards, but rather with the transition to the new warehouse, the logistics and cost within this new facility and the lower than expected volume of product sales made this product not financially practical. 

      o   Although bundle quantity discounts are not listed, if you have an outstanding SOR or have a special need for bundle quantity discounts, please speak to your Mimio Territory Manager.

      o   After review of our software licensing cost, we have determined to maintain an equivalent margin to our Reseller Partners in subsequent years after the initial purchase.

      o   Change in price of MimioProjector spares/accessories

      We are excited to announce the Go Mimio, Go Mobile Promotion to our end customers.  From Feb 1st – March 31st 2014, for every MimioTeach purchased, the customer will receive a MimioMobile annual classroom license for one year, FREE!  

       

      Overview of the Go Mimio, Go Mobile Promo

      • Timeframe of the Promo: Feb 1st – March 31st 2014
      • Promotion: For every MimioTeach purchased, the customer will receive a MimioMobile annual license FREE for one year 
      • Please note that there must be an end-user email address on the PO to Mimio so Mimio can email the MimioMobile license activation code to the customer

       

      Marketing Materials for Go Mimio, Go Mobile Promo

      We have created some marketing materials you can use during this promotion, which include:

      • Go Mimio, Go Mobile Sell Sheet - PDF about the promotion that can be printed or emailed out to your potential customers
      • Poster - PDF that can be printed out and displayed at FETC, TCEA or other tradeshows you will be attending in the Feb and March timeframe

      Goal of the Go Mimio, Go Mobile Promo

      The SPIFF promotion that Mimio conducted in Q4 of 2013 was focused entirely on the Reseller Partners.  This was a major effort on our part to drive sales of MimioTeach in the channel via a promotion to you, our Reseller Partners.  We saw no significant uplift in MimioTeach sales from our Q4 SPIFF; therefore we are now conducting a promotion that is focused more on the end-user.  

      We are projecting an uplift of 10% of MimioTeach sales over what the forecast is for US and Canada to deem this Go Mimio, Go Mobile promotion successful.  After the promotional period is over, we will communicate what we find from the results. The goal remains to drive business for Mimio and for our Reseller Partners, and we hope that this new Q1 promotion to the end user will do just that.  

       

      Terms and Conditions of the Promotion

      • The promotion will run from February 1, 2014 through March 31, 2014. All promotion-eligible purchase orders must be received during this time frame.
      • The promotion is valid for educational sales only.
      • The promotion is limited to residents of the United States and Canada who are age 21 or older.
      • This offer is void where prohibited by law.
      • To receive a free MimioMobile license for one year, one MimioTeach unit must be purchased.
      • Any product returns (defective replacements and repairs excluded) will result in the forfeiture of the corresponding number of free goods.
      • All products must be clearly listed on one purchase order, with the corresponding prices, to be eligible for the promotion.
      • All free units must be clearly listed as zero-dollar line items, including product and quantity, on the purchase order to Mimio.
      • This offer is available to all customers purchasing at standard end-user pricing. Volume discounts and bundles do not apply.
      • There is no limit per purchaser on the number of free MimioMobile licenses that can be received.
      • No substitutions apply for the free MimioMobile license(s) received.
      • All communications to the end user must state the March 31, 2014 end date.
      • All items on a single purchase order must either be fulfilled from the Partner's stock, or drop-shipped.  No partial shipments apply.

      So, I know Partner Resouces can be a little overwhelming with the vast array of materials available to support your Mimio business.  We thought it may come in handy to highlight a few things that we feel would really benefit you.

      Within Sales Support (section supporting sales activities), we want to highlight:

      • Sales Demo Material - Mimio has created a modular demo and subject/product focused demos in .ink files to use during customer demos and tailor to suit your audience.

      Within Marketing Resources (section supporting marketing activities), the main marketing materials we want to highlight include:

      • Product Launch Kits - To support our partners when launching new products, Mimio has developed a comprehensive set of promotional tools, such as the product sell sheet, press release, product photography and product video, all available in one easy download.
      • Logos, Fonts and Graphics - This part includes some of the basic elements you need to create your own marketing materials for Mimio, including Mimio company logos.
      • Photography – The photography section includes an extensive image library that includes product shots and product-in-use photos, in both high and low resolution to add to your website, catalogue or brochures.
